2022 Keynote Presentation – John Cortines “Biblical Generosity”
John Cortines oversees the Maclellan Foundation’s investments and strategies to catalyze a global movement of generosity among all believers. While at Harvard Business School, he encountered a radical call from God to reframe his perspective on generosity and ultimately shift his career into the nonprofit sector. He previously served for five years at Generous Giving, most recently as COO.
John is the coauthor of two books on biblical generosity (God and Money, and True Riches) which together have over 50,000 copies in circulation.
John lives in Florida with his lovely and gracious wife Megan. They have three biological children, in addition to twin foster babies. They also manage a flock of egg-laying hens (14, as of the most recent poultry census). They worship at Northland Church where John serves as a governing elder. John holds an MBA, MS in Geophysics, and BS in Chemical Engineering.
In this part, John Cortines answers questions from attendees, following his keynote presentation. This is a deeper dive into some of the information and teachings John spoke about.
“Human Capital – Investing In, For, and With One Another” – Presented by Joelle Marquis
For the first ten years of her professional career Joelle was successful, promoted, moved up the career ladder, recruited for new jobs in new companies with greater responsibility, and compensation. She had her eyes set on her growth, career and financial prosperity. As a senior partner at New York’s Arsenal Capital Partners, she supervised more than 200 business acquisitions, managed more than $5 billion in assets, all while owning four small businesses.
Although Joelle had continued business success, she was looking for a spiritual purpose. She turned her entrepreneurial spirit into a spiritual purpose. Joelle is building a heartfelt legacy that goes far beyond business success by encouraging and guiding fellow business leaders to do the same.
“When Business, Faith & Government Intersect” – Presented by Rob Givens
A Louisville native, Rob Givens serves as State Director for U.S. Senator Rand Paul. In this role, Rob is responsible for leading the official staff in the Commonwealth and providing advice and coordination on legislation to benefit constituents. Rob acts as Senator Paul’s personal representative maintaining strong ties with community leaders and constituents throughout the state.
Rob is an executive with over 20 years of leadership and management success. He has experience leading large, diverse organizations facing complex challenges under fiscal constraints. Rob is interested in assisting organizations to develop strategic and operational plans to further their business and better their local community.
Rob and his wife reside and attend church in Louisville, Kentucky.
Navigating Business as a Christian Today – Presented by Tony Young
Tony Young is the President and CEO of Diversified Automation, as well as the President and Executive Director for City On A Hill. Tony also serves as Chairman of Kingdom Story Company and was an Executive Producer for the 2018 motion picture, “I CAN ONLY IMAGINE”. Tony manages the assets and folks The LORD has blessed him to work with to accomplish God’s purpose in the Marketplace.
“Diversity In the Workplace – We Are One in Christ” – Presented by Denita Arnold
Denita Arnold is a speaker, writer and life coach who uses the truth of God’s Word to encourage, equip and inspire people to live a purposeful life. She equips her clients to live out, identity, and fine-tune their priorities to impact others for God’s Kingdom.
Denita has been leading and mentoring for over 20 years through various Bible study forums. She serves as President of A Woman Like You Foundation, and is a former Board Member for BSIDEU For Life, a pregnancy and resource center in Louisville.
Denita is the founder and host of HIS Grace Everyday, encouraging listeners daily with her written devotions. She and her husband, Mike Arnold, are natives of Louisville, Kentucky who actively attend serve at Southeast Christian Church, and in the community. They are the proud parents to five adult children.
The Commissioning at the 2022 Business & Ministry Conference – delivered by Matt Reagan
Matt Reagan is the Associate Pastor and serves on the Directional Leadership Team at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a visionary leader with a passion to unleash the Jesus potential in next generation leaders, activating and inspiring a pursuit of Jesus and His Kingdom. He will do the same for business leaders, motivating all of us to use the various platforms God has given us for ministry opportunities and sharing our faith. Matt’s heart for the communities that we live in will challenge us to be bold in the name of Jesus.
“Being Intentional and Purpose Driven about Your Mission” – Presented by Carl Williams, Sr. & Matt Simons
Carl L. Williams, Sr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of 20/Twenty Strategic Consultants. Carl has provided the vision and leadership that has contributed to the rapid and focused growth of many companies across the nation. He has led the acquirement and advancement of data security protocols for business systems, product migration to the cloud and innovative integration initiatives for Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and Benefit administration.
A former K-12 classroom teacher and K-12 Human Resources professional, Carl draws from his experience in the field to reinforce 20/Twenty’s authentic commitment to improving the technology within non-profit and education business office environments.
Matt Simons is Vice President of Client Development for 20/twenty Strategic Consultants. His purpose is to help organizations create the conditions to grow faster and to be sustainable. He is a strategy, sales, and management professional with a focus on business development, demand generation, pipeline development, and building compelling value propositions.
Over the years, Matt has been an active contributor to growth initiatives in technology and services organizations that underwent a significant strategic change, via process development, product launch, and increased development efforts.
“Navigating Human Resources as a Christian” – Presented by Tammy Savaiano
Tammy’s heart’s desire has been to bring Christ into the workplace one person at a time and one situation at a time. For over 20 years Tammy has partnered with organizational leaders, led Human Resources, and worked to address challenges with people-honoring, common-sense solutions. This approach has resulted in organizational success and growth benefitting leaders and employees in several industries.
Tammy has served as a former Substitute Teaching Leader in Bible Study Fellowship and led bible studies in various environments. She is passionate about being “on mission” for Christ in the workplace and believes we currently have an incredible opportunity to share hope with people given the state of our world. Tammy is an active member of Southeast Christian Church.
